First Week of 2023

Posted by Sharon on 8th Jan 2023

We started the first week of 2023 with Willy traveling back to “Home Office.”  By the time he got done with all of the other things he has to take care of on any given day owning 4 businesses (I think I got the count right), it was well past time for the picnic we were going on to celebrate my birthday. The Adventure Vehicle pulled in just in time for a cup of coffee and the sunset. Even though we both ended up working all day, the evening chat over coffee, while sitting outside watching the sun set…worth every minute we missed of the picnic.

Tuesday morning we woke to realize we were both sick and had pushed ourselves too hard over the holidays to get everything going on top of the Coldest Little Christmas  of 2022.  That’s right, I was suppose to use this post to do that…

We woke up Christmas Eve morning able to see our breath INSIDE the camper WITH my TWO electric heaters running as hard as they could. Oh, yeah. Willy got too sick to travel to his mom’s on the 22nd and spent a couple of days bed ridden.  The day he finally starts to feel human again, I try to freeze him to death LOL.  Being who he is, Willy was determined to figure out how to get me more heat AND get it to stay INSIDE the camper. Less than $150, and a couple of hours later, we were warm and enjoying the evening over at our friend Jeremy’s camper for Christmas Eve Dinner. When we went to sleep that evening all nice and warm, snug in our beds. We had no idea that along with Santa’s sleigh, Jack Frost was doing a number outside as well!

We woke Christmas morning and gathered for our 1st Company Christmas Day Celebration! We handed out bones/catnip to our Board Members and we humans enjoyed coffee and spending time with each other. We then got Willy all packed up for his Christmas Adventure Surprise in NC, and sent him on his way.  Not 5 minutes had passed before he was back at the door! All of the water we have been adding to the radiator lately had thinned the antifreeze beyond the point of working! We tried thawing it for several hours and Willy finally felt like it was ok to start the road to his surprise visit.I got ready to settle in for the evening and was talking on the phone about 20 minutes after Willy pulled out and I get a call from him.  He is less than 5 miles away and was coming back here. I put on a pot of coffee and tried to heat the soup…ran out of Propane! On Christmas night, after working on a frozen car all day! Thank you Lord for the microwave I seldom use, it really does help out in a pinch here!

Got Willy fed and warmed up. We spent the rest of the night talking about our year, all of the Blessings that we have received, and the Excitement we feel waiting for us in 2023! Some would have let the events of the week get them down or in a negative depressed state. But when you live believing blessings come from living like we are suppose to, sharing Kindness, happiness is all around you. It’s true. “Treat Others As You Want To Be Treated” still works!

And that’s the recap of the Coldest Little Christmas 2022 - Unexpected JOY!

The rest of this first week has been filled with shears, shears, shears! Yes Willy is a Shear Manufacturer as well as Backroad Traveler. We did get some time out at Lynches River County Park to do some hiking with the dogs and take a nice long HOT shower! All my CamperLife and VanLife peeps know what a Blessing that is! We ended up working all weekend on Unboxing Video, getting pictures of all the new shears, phone conversations with our production manager, getting ready to meet with new Service Center perspectives, and getting it all online to sell.  Man! No wonder we are tired!!

Tomorrow is going to be the best day of the week around here to take a day off and enjoy some fishing. I think Willy deserves to get a play day outside after the work load he has been managing lately.  So if you are in the area and need an adventure of your own tomorrow, set out on the dirt roads of the Pee Dee area of SC, and see if you can find the Subaru Adventure Vehicle down by the river…stop on by and throw out your line, or just pull up a log and sit a while enjoying the nature and some good conversation. And if not tomorrow, any beautiful day when you’d rather be fishing…just look for that Yellow Subi down by the water’s edge. And if you know of a great fishing spot in your neck of the woods, let us know! Willy loves to Wander. As Willy wander’s across the country, we will all get to see more daily life, behind the lens, as we go Wandering With Willy.
