We were invited to a Mexican Baby Shower. Now the only reason I differentiate here is because our host, Hugo Jaminez, did as well. We were told we could bring any firearms we would like to use, come hungry, and there’s a place for you to sleep if need be.
Ok…I was a little nervous. We met Hugo, E&J Steel, through Facebook Market place when looking for contractors for our #LakeMartinProject. He and his crew have taken every change Willy has made in stride and we find Joy in working with them on a daily basis. We don’t know how to help hang steel, but we are learning through filming. We lend a hand when they can walk us through something. We run for supplies and I cook lunch for the crew daily. Although after eating what we were served yesterday, I’m defeated as a chef. But they shared their recipes and skills with me like part of the family. It was comforting to walk into the heart of the home and see so many gathered and working. Everyone was helping with something. Women scurrying in the kitchen, women making the last minute decorations, kids carrying food and decor to the event venue where the men were in charge of fans and trash. I was honored to be allowed to pull up a chair and help get the tasks completed.
Once my job was done I delivered the corsage to the Mommy To Be where food was being delivered and setup. I say delivered, but not from a caterer. Family and friends sent food for this celebration.
We were told to go start sampling what was there so far but to make sure and save room because it’s going to keep coming. Boy they were right!!! On the way home Willy nailed the feeling…Post Thanksgiving Feast.
Since we left Jetty back at the bus we had to say our goodbyes and decline the invitation to stay and celebrate Easter with them today. I think the itinerary for the rest of the evening was cake, music, and target practice. We hated to have to get on the road but we were invited to a 3-day Mexican Wedding next weekend! We can’t wait to experience that celebration with our new friends.
This was the perfect example of Jesus’ love. They brought in strangers and showed them kindness and love. What a great way to Celebrate Easter Weekend! Thank you Jaminez Family for inviting us. We ate well, made friends, laughed, and watched the love of this family and what they all mean to each other. We were honored to attend.
